USC Senator Apartments

Constructed in 1939, the Senator Apartments were purchased by the University of Southern California for use as married student housing. The three buildings, sited within the North University Park Historic District, needed numerous improvements. Original steel windows which had been in part replaced with non-compatible vinyl windows were in need of repairs and improved sound protection. Decks with handrails required upgrades for safety.  The project included all new operable steel windows to match original with laminate glass for acoustics.  Original railings were preserved with new code compliant rails integrated behind the decorative patterns. Parking was re-configured for both access and security.  New gates maintained the masonry wall that dated to the original site development.
