USC Royal St Housing Study – 2019, Los Angeles, California
The University is seeking housing solutions for a number of special needs. Students from around the region attend classes several days a week and then use vehicles or other means for short term living arrangements. Economic housing alternates were needed for a variety of situations including students with limited financial backing and special family situations as well as for military veterans with minimal resources. On a site within the neighboring residential neighborhood, we studied housing with a variety of plan types including hostel type living, single and multi-student dormitories as well as small apartments in a courtyard arrangement adjacent to an existing historic brick residence used for shared dining and study areas.
